Properties and Welding Principles of ETFE and FEP

ETFE (ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer) and FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene copolymer) differ in their properties, and their welding principles are not identical:

Differences in Properties
Temperature Resistance: ETFE can withstand continuous use at temperatures up to 150°C, whereas FEP offers higher temperature resistance, reaching up to 200°C.
Mechanical Properties: ETFE is tougher, making it suitable for high-strength coatings; FEP, by contrast, emphasizes chemical stability and non-stick characteristics.
Welding Principles
ETFE: Typically joined via heat-fusion welding or high-frequency welding, where the material is melted to create a bond.
FEP: Requires specialized welding equipment (such as high-frequency induction welding or ultrasonic welding). Because the material is highly sensitive to temperature, heating parameters must be precisely controlled.
In summary, given the differences in their properties and processing requirements, the appropriate method should be selected based on the specific application scenario.
